Celebrating Our Award-Winning Spirits and One-Year Anniversary

 

From the beginning, we founded Hush & Whisper as a true grain-to-glass distillery with the intention to create the highest possible quality spirits. Now in less than a year since opening our doors in Downtown Bryan, Hush & Whisper Distilling has already achieved significant recognition: winning multiple awards on a global stage.


As a new distillery, we chose to compete in only two very select competitions: the American Distilling Institute International Spirits Competition (ADI ISC) and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The American Distilling Institute (ADI) is the oldest and largest trade association dedicated to craft distilling in the world, while San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the oldest and largest competition of its kind.


Up against some of the biggest names in the industry, our Original Gin surpassed the competition to win the gold medal in the “Best Classic Gin” category and “Best of Category Spirit” at the 2024 ADI ISC. A harmonious blend of juniper, citrus, and botanical notes—accented by a subtle hint of spice—exemplified its superior quality and won gold for its perfect balance of traditional and contemporary flavors. The ADI Judging Panel described the gin as featuring:



Nose: Fruity, citrus, juniper, and herbal aromas.
Palate: A candied sweetness with hints of tropical fruit and slightly herbal notes.
Finish: Long with lingering juniper and citrus notes.

Our original vodka was awarded a silver medal, placing Hush & Whisper among other esteemed silver medalists like Reyka and Absolut vodka. By using a bourbon mash bill and being distilled 24 times to reach 192-proof, the Hush & Whisper Original Vodka stood out for its unparalleled smoothness and character.


At the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition—one of the most prestigious and competitive spirit competitions globally—both the Gin and Vodka came home with silver medals.


What’s Next?


We will be attending the awards ceremonies to accept the gold and silver medals later this year, then bringing them home to brandish at the Hush & Whisper tasting room.


We are also approaching the one-year mark of distilling and barreling our bourbon, a significant milestone on our path to bottling whiskey. The higher temperatures and frequent fluctuations of Texas weather lead to more intense extraction of flavors from the wood of the barrel for this bourbon, and earlier samplings have proven promising!


To celebrate this first anniversary of our spirits and aging our whiskey, we will be hosting a special event on July 18th at the distillery. Guests will have the rare opportunity to sample spirits taken directly from barrels and that are still in the aging process. You’ll also have the chance to meet our Head Distiller, Aaron Schorsch, in person, and enjoy a specialty one-night-only cocktail featuring our aged spirits.


Years of work went into developing our mash bills, driven by over a decade of experience and the collective tastes of the H&W team. We strive for perfection in every product we craft, constantly seeking ways to enhance our consistency, explore new ingredients, and refine our processes.
