The cost is $75 and includes lunch and light refreshments. Advanced registration is required at https://tx.ag/MoreBass by May 3.

The workshop is hosted by the Texas A&M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management as well as the AgriLife Extension offices in Grimes, Lee, Washington, Madison and Brazos counties.

It offers five continuing education units for current Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide license holders — two general, two integrated pest management, and one laws and regulations.

Educational presentations will be delivered by Todd Sink, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension aquaculture specialist and associate professor in the Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Bryan-College Station, and Brittany Chesser, AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation program specialist and lead diagnostic scientist at AgriLife Extension’s Aquatic Diagnostics Laboratory, Bryan-College Station.

Additionally, Garrett Stamport and Dustin Brown of Pristine Pond Solutions, a Louisiana-based aquatic vegetation removal and lake management company, will conduct pondside electrofishing and mechanical vegetation removal demonstrations.

Chesser said the event is a great opportunity for both new and experienced pond owners.

“Throughout the day, we’ll cover several core topics related to pond management including aquatic vegetation and fish management strategies,” Chesser said. “Registrants will also receive a booklet that includes all presentations and space to take notes.”

Specific topics include:

Identifying aquatic vegetation.
Strategies and regulations on aquatic vegetation management.
Using herbivorous fish as an integrated pest management strategy.
Pond site selection for better water and vegetation management.
Fish stocking and management strategies.
